Grand Strand Golf Directors Association

Each year at the annual Charity Challenge golf tournament, the Association holds a raffle of donated prizes as a very effective way of raising additional money.

Our prize committee gears up after the first of the year and begins soliciting and collecting prizes for the upcoming raffle. A wide assortment of items are donated, ranging from shirts to vacations, dinners to tee times.

Members of the Prize Committee contact each of the Association's members and ask for at least one item to be included in the raffle. At the golf tournament, raffle tickets are sold at registration as well as on the course during play. After the mid-way point in tournament play, the Tournament Directors retire to conduct the drawing. Winning ticket numbers are posted and members are on hand to present the winners with their prizes.

A successful raffle can add several thousand dollars to the funds collected for the charity recipient and is a vital element of the overall success of the tournament.
